Stephanie graduated with high honours from the SSC in both the Shiatsu (2005) and Acupuncture (2009) programs. Since 2006, Stephanie has been an instructor and supervisor at the SSC, where she supervises in the shiatsu student teaching clinic and teaches courses on shiatsu theory and practice.
Stephanie held executive positions with the Shiatsu Therapy Association of Ontario, serving as Vice-President and Secretary, as well as working with the Examinations Committee.
Stephanie stays current in her field with continued studies in shiatsu and acupuncture, as well as expanding her field of knowledge with studies in yoga and craniosacral therapy. She finds these additional studies help broaden her lens for viewing the body and have proven an invaluable addition to successful practice. Stephanie maintains a private practice located in the heart of Toronto.

Giovanni Salvia
Giovanni Salvia began his holistic practice with shiatsu therapy. Having completed his studies at the Shiatsu School of Canada he, further, continued his studies in acupuncture there as well. He completed hi Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine Diploma at the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto where studied in depth the use of Chinese herbal medicine. As a pilates and yoga instructor he used movement and exercises as a rehabilitative therapy. His current interest has been in the practice of Tai chi and Chi Gong, both as a martial and healing application.

Victor Lagman

Victor Lagman, PhD (Philippines)
Bio-Medical Science Instructor (Anatomy, Physiology & Bio Medical Pharmacology)
Dr. Lagman is an international medical graduate from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines, where he earned his degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) in 1992. He later specialized in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and is a graduate of the Intensive Course in Otologic Medicine and Surgery in Savannah Georgia, USA.
He began teaching in 1982 and underwent the Training Course for Instructors, in which he learned the fundamental principles and advanced techniques of adult education. Aside from his medical practice, he served as Associate Professor in Physiology, Biochemistry, and Otolaryngology in two medical schools. He has lectured to a wide range of audience, including nursing and dental students, maxillofacial surgeons, as well as in symposia for educating the general public.
Aside from being a medical doctor, Dr. Lagman is also a Certified Clinical Research Professional and has worked in the Canadian pharmaceutical industry. (Clinical Research is a branch of medical science that determines the safety and effectiveness of drug compounds, medications, and devices intended for human use.)
Will Hossack

Will Hossack, Instructor of Auricular Acupuncture, Treatment of Disease & Clinic Supervisor
Will Hossack is the owner and a practitioner at the Danforth Progressive Health Centre. He has been practicing in the Eastern Medical field since 1999 as a Shiatsu Therapist. He went on to study Acupuncture and Chinese medicine for 4 years at the Mitchener Institute for Applied Health Sciences graduating with the Gold Medal for academic achievement. During his time at the Michener, Will’s clinical experience included 6 months at St. John’s Rehabilitation Centre and 1 year at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Wasser Pain Management Centre. Will held an executive position with the Shiatsu Therapy Association of Ontario, serving as Secretary and working with the Examinations Committee for 3 years. He is currently an instructor at the Shiatsu School of Canada, where he teaches Shiatsu and Acupuncture Theory. Will’s clinical experience is varied and includes treatment for sports injuries, pain, immunological conditions and digestive complaints.
Chris Di Tecco

Chris’ passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine grew from his study of martial arts and T’ai Chi. It was a natural progression which led Chris to his apprenticeship at a local acupuncture clinic and eventually to formal instruction with Dr. David Lam at the Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Toronto. Graduating with a diplomas in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, Chris went on to gain invaluable clinical experience at several TCM clinics in the greater Toronto area.
Chris has recently started teaching Herbal Theory and The Treatment of Disease with Acupuncture at the Shiatsu school of Canada. Additionally, at the SSC, he works as a student supervisor. Chris also operates a private practice in Mississauga.

T'agyol Adler
T'agyol Adler is a practitioner of zen shiatsu and acupuncture and holds diplomas in both disciplines. Starting in 1998 he began his studies in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. In 1999 he started what would become a 10 year training in zen shiatsu. During this time he learned how to both practice and teach zen shiatsu and TCM. He continues to develop his practice and is currently studying chinese herbal medicine. He is a member in good standing with the OAATCM and Zen Shiatsu Society of Canada. JoAnn Alafriz

JoAnn Alafriz, graduated from the Shiatsu School of Canada, with High Honours in 1997. Since 2000, she has maintained her own private practice in downtown Toronto. Upon graduating from the Acupuncture Diploma Program at the SSC in December 2008, JoAnn enjoys incoporating a variety of complementaty modalities to enhance her treatment’s effectiveness such as: reflexology, aromatherapy, moxabustion and cupping. An integral part of her treatment includes homecare exercises, stretches and nutritional counselling.
Since 2002, JoAnn has instructed classes and supervised the student clinic at the SSC. She has taught self-shiatsu to the general public and has performed public demonstrations to promote shiatsu.
Outside of practice JoAnn loves spending time outdoors. In her spare time you can find her kayaking, camping, cycling or hiking with her dog.

Guiomar is a holistic medical practitioner with a background in nursing obstetrics and midwifery and in native healing traditions of her native Brazil. Guiomar was trained in the art of shiatsu and acupuncture at the Shiatsu School of Canada where she worked for 5 years as an instructor in the diploma program. Guiomar is also a performing artist, singer and percussionist, leader of the band Parabolica, a Toronto based musical group built on a foundation of Afro-Brazilian folk rhythms, bossa nova, samba, and jazz. She is the creator of Biosync-rhythm movement, a technique that synchronizes body’s natural rhythms through creative dance, drumming and yoga. When she is not performing, she is running her clinic Lotus Arts and Wellness helping performing artists to make healthy lifestyle choices to overcome postural and joint problems as well as to prepare the body for conception, through the art of Movement therapy, Shiatsu, Acupuncture and Aromatherapy.

Leny Carbone

Leny Carbone, Dipl. Ac., Reiki Master and 4th Dan Black Belt Shotokan Karate Leny Carbone began studying Shiatsu in 1985 and has been teaching since 1993. He is certified in Zen Shiatsu Therapy, Acupuncture, Chinese Tuina Massage & Reiki. Leny is a 4th Dan black belt in Shotokan Karate & has participated in a number of Zen meditation retreats. He has also taken many classes in Nature awareness & Philosophy at the tracker school in Asbury New Jersey. He has traveled to both China and Japan. His dedication to Shiatsu has led him to teach an integrated approach to Shiatsu called Earth Shiatsu® using the modalities of meditation, nature awareness, martial arts & healing, where the focus is on using the Ki of the Earth to send and receive. He practices at Clear Stream Clinic in Toronto.
Lisa Dowling

Lisa Dowling completed her honours diploma in shiatsu therapy at the Shiatsu School of Canada in 2001, and her diploma in Acupuncture at the Shiatsu School of Canada in 2007. Previous to this, Lisa majored in Psychology at York University and was always fascinated with the mind body connection. She first experienced Asian Medicine in University, then went on to spend over a year working and studying in Asia. Since graduation from SSC, Lisa has maintained her own full-time practise for 10 years and has treated thousands of patients with a wide variety of health conditions. Her clinical practise ranges from doing treatments in her own clinic, working at various sports medicine and naturopathic clinics to home and office visits as well as treatments within hospitals.
Lisa has also continued to study on an ongoing basis. She has taken specialized courses in treating Pregnancy, Fertility, Chronic Pain and Illness, in such modalities as Pilates, Movement Therapy, and of course Shiatsu and Acupuncture. Lisa has studied with such instructors as Suzanne Yates, Ted Saito, Junji Mitsutani, Kiiko Matsumoto, and Frank Bach as well as doing an extensive apprenticeship in Japanese Medicine with Tak Tsurusaki.

An accident forced her to quit ballet and she decided to become a Swedish Massage Therapist, training at the Arnold Taylor School of Massage Therapy in England . She worked in the Massage Therapy Department of Elizabeth Arden in London until she immigrated to Canada in May of 1974 where she was introduced to Chinese Medicine when a member of her family became dangerously ill and tried it as a "last resort". The results were so miraculous that she decided to pursue it further and has never looked back. She studied at the Chinese Medicine Institute in Beijing, China, the Chinese Traditional Medicine Institute in Canada, and the Institute of Traditional Chinese Herbal Therapy in Toronto . She holds diplomas in both acupuncture and herbs from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in the U.S.A. She has appeared numerous times on television and radio, given talks, and written many articles on Chinese Medicine. She has just completed a Test Manual for TCM Examinations: Chinese Herb Guide (500 Questions & Answers to the Most Commonly Used Herbs & Formulas). Kate believes very strongly in the mind/body connection and has expanded her private practice to include what is known as Experiential Dynamic Counseling.

Drazen Krivokuca

Drazen Krivokuca Dipl ST & Dipl.Ac
Graduated from the Shiatsu Diploma Program in 2007. Drazen also completed his studies in Reflexology at the Ontario College of Reflexology in 1999. He provides relaxing shiatsu, cupping, moxa and acupuncture treatments which can include effective reflexology techniques, promoting circulation and well being. Drazen completed 1600 hours of acupuncture training at the Shiatsu School of Canada’s Acupuncture Institute, allowing him to provide harmonizing combination treatments of shiatsu, acupuncture and reflexology.

Carlos Praniauskas Dipl.ST, MQP (Medical Qi Gong Practitioner)
Carlos Praniauskas completed the 2200 hour Shiatsu Therapy Diploma Program at the Shiatsu School of Canada in 1988. He became a Shiatsu Instructor at the Shiatsu School of Canada in 1990 and 3 years later Clinic Supervisor. His excellent communication skills and extensive knowledge within the field of Shiatsu therapy, created a wonderful learning environment for shiatsu students. Carlos has devoted his life to the continuously expanding his knowledge within the field of Shiatsu Therapy. Carlos chose to refine his technique by learning other forms of Shiatsu Therapy by attending seminars on Seiki Therapy under Master Aklinobu Kishi as well as Tao Shiatsu under Master Ryokyu Endo, Toru Namikoshi, Kiiko Matsumoto, Honora Lee Wolfe. He continued to work alongside leaders in the Shiatsu field; individuals such as Tetsuro Saito who introduced Shiatsu to Canada and Kaz Kamiya, founder of the Shiatsu School of Canada. Carlos first studied Qigong under Dr. Zaimen Shen from 1987 to 1990, later on with Master Wu. He also studied Qigong at the Acupuncture and Integrated Medical College in Berkeley, California where he received his certification as a Medical Qigong Practitioner in 2006. This form of moving mediation exercise has proven to help reduce therapist burn out and increases overall health, flexibility and wellbeing. Qi Gong is an important component to any healthy practice for both client and therapist.
The incorporation of Qigong to the Shiatsu practice allows the practitioner/individual the chance to connect to a deeper energetic level, elevating the effectiveness of the treatments. Qigong not only helps physical complaints but also helps to release deep emotional blockages or trauma.
He currently operates his own Shiatsu and Qigong Practice in Toronto and has done so since 1988.

Heike Raschl
Shinso Therapist and Instructor at Shin So Canada and Master Student of Tetsuro Saito. Additionally, Heike has been instrumental in coordinating the annual Shin So Shiatsu Summer Camp held each August at the Ecology Retreat Centre.

Sarah Ritchi

Sarah Ritchie BA, BEd, RMT, Dipl.Ac., Reiki Master Sarah began bodywork in 1993 in Japan completing an apprenticeship training as a Shiatsu Therapist, and then continued later on to Massage Therapy, graduating as a Registered Massage Therapist from ICT Kikkawa College in 2003. In 2011 Sarah graduated from the SSC Acupuncture Institute with a Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture (TCM). Her treatment knowledge is complemented by hands that are both sensitive and experienced. Sarah is also a Reiki Master. Sarah is a member of both the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and the Registered Massage Therapist Association of Ontario (RMTAO). In addition she holds membership with the Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CSCMA).
Sarah enjoys practicing a variety of treatment modalities including Shiatsu, TCM Acupuncture, Tuina, Cupping, Moxa and Reiki. All of these modalities allow Sarah to tailor-make treatments that are appropriate for the healing of each client.

Heather Stewart
After more than fifteen years progressing through a variety of accounting and finance roles in the corporate world, Heather decided to change career direction. She has a passion for teaching and assisting others and used this inspiration to become a Yoga teacher, Meditation Facilitator and Personal Trainer. This lead her down the path to becoming an RMT where she studied at Sutherland -Chan school. She currently runs a Yoga and wellness centre in the Annex and has also achieved additional certificates in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, Advanced Craniosacral Therapy and Advanced Reiki healing

Jennifer Stock is a graduate of the acupuncture diploma at the Shiatsu school of Canada. She has been working at the SSC Professional Clinic for 2 years, and has a small private practice. She is a Reiki master and has been practicing for 14 years. Currently she is apprenticing with Tak Tsurusaki in Japanese Acupuncture. She is well versed in Cranio Sacral training and also studied Shiatsu.

She is also a graduate of the Acupuncture program at The Mitchener Institute for Applied Health Sciences, and was an intern in the Acupuncture Clinic in the Wasser Pain Management Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital . She is one of the Directors at the Tai Chi Meditation Centre, and is actively involved with the Shiatsu Therapy Association of Ontario (STAO), and Friends Of Alternative & Complementary Therapies (FACT).

Julian Yates graduated from the SSC's Shiatsu Therapy Program in 2004 and began practicing immediately in the School's professional clinic, Ki on College. He also supervises the Shiatsu school's student clinic helping to shape next year's therapists while feeding back into the clinic that shaped him into the professional he is today. Always keen to further his ability to help those in pain, Julian went on to complete the Acupuncture Program at the Shiatsu School of Canada in 2008 and now intergrades it into his Shiatsu sessions.
